The LFUCG Planning Commission meeting on September 24, 2026 contains an agenda item for the UP Campus Student Living project that is proposed for High Street between Hagerman and Stone (across from the YMCA). This development would require zone changes, as the current zoning does not support the proposed development.
We expect this agenda item to be postponed until the October Planning Commission meeting. For people interested in the proposed UP Campus development, we encourage them to attend the public meeting at the Central Library on September 30.
UP Campus Student Living is a Chicago-based developer that’s proposing a 10-story student housing development. Detailed information can be accessed on the Accela Portal by looking up PLN-MJDP-26-00060.
In brief, the 10-story project would have 238 student apartments, with 725 bedrooms, and provide 186 on-site parking spaces. Entrances are on Stone and Hagerman, not High.
Neighbors have many concerns including, but not limited to, stormwater capacity, sewer capacity, height vs. neighboring properties, increased traffic, increased drop-off and delivery vehicles, and the sudden influx of new student developments happening simultaneously.
